Goals of the Mid-Canada AOAC Newsletter (Formula)

The Formula is one of the communication tools for Mid-Canada AOAC, and is meant to serve the following functions:

  • Provide the membership with valuable information regarding the Mid-Canada AOAC on-going and future activities
  • Serve as a forum where members can share relevant knowledge, insights and experiences with their colleagues
  • Act as a promotional tool to attract new members
  • Generate income for the Mid-Canada AOAC through advertisementsResponsibilities of the Production Editor

Preparation

The Production Editor is responsible for:

  • Receiving contributions for each issue of the Formula, including the President’s Message and the Editorial
  • Making appropriate editorial changes to the contributions
  • Maintaining on-going liaison with the Mid-Canada AOAC Board of Directors.
  • Soliciting and receiving advertisements

The Production Editor has the right to make editorial changes and to e-publish/print all material received except for material that is contrary to the mandate or the objectives of Mid-Canada AOAC.

Layout and Format of the Formula

 

  • The Formula is published in 8.5” X 11” format and is published in colour
  • Each issue of the Formula shall consist of at least sixteen 8.5” X 11” pages excluding cover pages. This means there shall be at least thirty two pages of material including advertisements
  • The Production Editor is responsible for the layout, formatting and compiling of the material including the advertisements
  • Creating an electronic/print ready file from which printers can print the copies of the Formula

Distribution

The Production Editor will assist in coordinating online or mail-out preparations.

Advertising Revenue

The Proponent shall propose an advertising revenue sharing formula and will factor the income from advertisements into the quote submitted to MID-CANADA AOAC

  • The Production Editor is responsible for contacting advertisers and collecting the revenue
  • At the end of the calendar year the Production Editor is required to submit to the Treasurer an itemized statement of advertisement revenues received

Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of English and demonstrated superior writing skills is prerequisite
  • The experience working with professional organizations and publishing scientific content will be an assetFinancial Proposal by Mid-Canada AOAC

The proponent shall receive $250 per issue. Currently 2 issues per year. The Proponent will receive portion of the advertising revenue

Length of contract

Initial contract

The length of the contract with the MID-CANADA AOAC is for a period of one (1) year. Proposals should clearly indicate exact start/end dates meeting this length of time.

Renewal

The MID-CANADA AOAC may renew the contract once for an additional two (2) years at its discretion.

Cancellation

Either the MID-CANADA AOAC or the contractor may cancel the contract at any time with ninety (90) days written notice.

Any questions requiring clarification should be submitted in writing to the Mid-Canada AOAC in a timely manner so that a response can be provided to all proponents. The proponent’s response will be shared with an evaluation committee representing the MID-CANADA AOAC

experience, skills, knowledge and creativity generally required for this work.

We are in need of enthusiastic, committed members of the analytical science community to help us continue to deliver the content our members have come to expect and to create new ideas to serve our membership into the future.  Time commitments small, typically about 1-2 hours/month although there are always projects waiting those with a little more time to give.  We offer teleconferencing for our meetings now, so you can participate in meetings from anywhere you have a phone.
